Teen Summer Reading

6th-12th gr.

Teens have their own program designed by library assistant, Kira Wysocki.  Here is her message to you.

Welcome to the Teen Summer Reading Program!

With COVID-19, many of the programs and activities we had planned have been cancelled or postponed to help ensure the safety of our patrons.  However, we have been hard at work creating a summer reading program, complete with crafts, quests, and prizes, that can be completed primarily online.

This year, the teen program’s reading log will be through a program called Reader Zone and will be recorded in minutes spent reading.  Teens can win awards along the way, the app will tell you when you've won an award. Click on the image below for more detailed information on how to get started.

In place of in-person programs, the teen program will include activities that can be accessed through Google Classroom. The Google Classroom code is fwuvzhl. Activities include several crafts, a scavenger hunt through Gering, two book discussions, and a writing contest.  For every activity completed, teens will earn a bonus entry into the grand prize drawing, and the winners of the writing contest will have their stories published in a special edition of the library newsletter.

Despite this year’s challenges, we are excited to present the 2020 Teen Summer Reading Program and we look forward to working with you!
